How to use it in ChatGPT
Ask, for example: "Check https://example.com/blog for broken links." The app scans one public page at a time, up to 250 unique links.
Understanding results
- broken: the destination returned HTTP 404 or 410, confirmed with a GET request.
- redirected: the link works but redirects; consider updating it to the final URL.
- other_error: for example 403, 429 or 5xx. Often the site blocks automated checks or has a temporary problem; not necessarily broken.
- unverified: timeout, DNS or connection failure, or a destination the service is not allowed to contact. Not confirmed broken; check it in a browser.
- skipped: mailto:, tel:, javascript: and same-page #fragment links are not checked.
Common questions
Why is a link that works in my browser reported as other_error? Some sites block or challenge automated requests from cloud servers.
Why are some links missing? Only links in the server-delivered HTML are checked; links added by JavaScript are not visible. Very large pages and pages with more links than the limit are scanned partially, and the report says so.
Can it scan my whole site or pages behind a login? Not currently. It checks one public page per request.
